Everyone needs support but for the neurodivergent individual it is the number one thing needed to survive. We cannot do it alone! |
Support is the number one thing we need to thrive.
Unfortunately, accessing support is often challenging for neurodivergent individuals for a number of reasons, including:
- lack of options,
- lack of neurodivergent education/knowledge, and
- lack of understanding of our own diagnosis.
It is common for neurodivergent individuals to receive significantly higher rates of negative feedback during childhood. Which in turn often results in self-esteem challenges. Having at least one person you can be every part of yourself with, can make all the difference in your quality of life.
If you love a neurodivergent individual and want help learning and understanding how to let them be every part of themselves, ENCC can help you. Contact us to find out how.
One of my supports - My Husband
One of the supports that helps me thrive is my husband, Chris. Since the start of our relationship, Chris has always made me feel comfortable expressing every part of myself. When I really started to learn about myself and understand how ADHD impacted me, their support allowed me to feel safe enough to do that.
Contradictory Traits
Having ADHD comes with all kinds of fun contradictory traits and behaviours. One of my favourite examples being that we tend to be viewed as mature for our age, while also being considered immature and “childish”. While I now understand those can both be true, and it doesn’t have to be negative, I didn’t feel this way growing up an undiagnosed neurodivergent. Instead, I learned to reject the childlike parts of me as I got older.
Chris not only accepts these parts of me, they support, embrace and encourage them. Their support has allowed me to feel confident enough to embrace myself. When I judged myself for loving my newest stuffed animal so much I was taking it with me places, they made sure I didn’t forget the joy it was bringing me, or that its okay to look silly.
It's Okay to Look Silly

Meet Sunny! My emotional support sea gull

I always liked dollhouses and miniature things, but only at a distance. A few years ago we planned a trip to see a bunch of local museums. Every one had some sort of miniature model or diorama, and some had multiple. By the second museum I was so giddy. I will never forget when Chris said
“I knew you liked miniatures, but you really like miniatures”
and it felt like a switch was just turned on. They then supported me in digging out all the hobbies from my ADHD Hobby Graveyard and channeling those skills into miniatures.
With support, we can thrive!
Chris has not only supported me, they’ve taken the time to understand me wholeheartedly. When my own journey in therapy led me to the realization I could no longer work in a system, they didn’t even hesitate in supporting me leaving my job. They even encouraged me to branch out on my own by simply stating “maybe its time”.

Frequently Asked Questions
ENCC offers Neurodiversity Coaching. We do not provide counselling. We are complementary to, not a replacement for, psychological services.
Neurodiversity coaching is the process of a trained professional working with a neurodivergent person to help them understand their differences and strengths and discover the specific tools that are best suited to help the person thrive, not just survive. Both coach and client are inextricable in the process as, together, they develop strategies for growth and success.
No diagnosis or referral is necessary for coaching sessions with ENCC. Anybody can arrange a session with me.
We work with YOU not a diagnosis.
Our approach and coaching content is designed with you, for you. Whether you need to learn math, design personalised, neurodivergent friendly strategies to help you get things done in the workplace or at home, completely re-imagine your career, or anything in between, we can work together in a timeframe to suit you.
The time required the help you make a meaningful difference in your daily life depends on your needs and your goals. Every client is unique and our focus is on YOU. It isn’t about a quick fix but about long lasting changes. We’ll start with the basics to understand you better. Then, the coaching begins. Many coaching agreements will last for 3-6 months. You will determine when you are ready to fly on your own and whether or not you want more time.
With the exception of the initial consultation, each coaching session is an hour long. The hourly cost will be negotiated depending on your needs. The number of sessions you will need depends on you. Payment is due in advance through EMT. Click HERE to find out more about our pricing.
